PbS measures and monitors facility practices by collecting and reporting data from administrative records and survey responses from youths, staff and families to provide a holistic picture of the conditions and quality of life in residential facilities, highlights the practices that are effective in promoting youths’ healthy maturation and identifies those that are not. PbS data is reported every April and October. PbS trains staff to use the information to change practices and support reforms implementing the adolescent development approach.
PbS Convenes First Virtual Institute on Reentry Data Collection, Reporting and Analysis
On April 28, Performance-based Standards (PbS) along with project partners the National Center for Juvenile Justice (NCJJ) and the American Institutes for Research (AIR), convened reentry teams for our first virtual institute.
Designed to be virtual for a larger reach, participants from five agencies in four different time zones attended the training at the same time. Participants were provided with the most recent, comprehensive and research-grounded information about data to effectively measure and monitor reentry practices and services from the PbS’ Juvenile Reentry Measurement Standards and NCJJ’s Model Data Project findings.
PbS appreciates very much the participating reentry teams from Alaska, Division of Juvenile Justice; Iowa Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning, Department of Human Rights; Maine Department of Corrections, Juvenile Division; Los Angeles City Office of the Mayor, Gang Reduction and Youth Development; and Travis County Juvenile Probation Department, Texas.
