Congratulations to the Winners of the 2020 PbS Kids Got Talent Contest

Performance-based Standards (PbS) is proud to announce the winners of the 2020 PbS Kids Got Talent Contest!

Our solo winner is from Rogue Valley Youth Correctional Facility in Grants Pass, OR! The singer accompanied by the RVYCF Youth Ukulele Band sent in an emotional cover of “Photograph” by Ed Sheeran playing homage to those that have to leave their families behind. Our judges said, “Really beautiful harmonies;” “What an incredible video; I love how you have given the song meaning and connected to it emotionally;” “Quite talented and excellent presence” and “Wonderful!! Loved the creativity, the voice and stage presence.”

Our group winners are three young men from Ferris School for Boys in Wilmington, DE! This group wrote, produced and performed an important public service announcement on PREA. The judges commented, “Your song is so catchy and I admire your use of your talent and creativity to send a meaningful message and raise awareness for PREA. Your production (both of the song and the video) are so impressive;” “Very creative and great way to learn about PREA” and “Wow! Just wow! Great lyrics, important message and love the stage presence.”

Both winners will be honored in our upcoming 2020 PbS Virtual Awards Ceremony on Friday, August 7, 2020. Congratulations to the winners of the 2020 PbS Kids Got Talent Contest and thank you to all applicants for sharing your talents!

PbS measures and monitors facility practices by collecting and reporting data from administrative records and survey responses from youths, staff and families to provide a holistic picture of the conditions and quality of life in residential facilities, highlights the practices that are effective in promoting youths’ healthy maturation and identifies those that are not. PbS data is reported every April and October.  PbS trains staff to use the information to change practices and support reforms implementing the adolescent development approach.

PbS has been a partner in assisting this facility to become a dynamic work environment that is not satisfied with maintaining the status quo.
