PbS measures and monitors facility practices by collecting and reporting data from administrative records and survey responses from youths, staff and families to provide a holistic picture of the conditions and quality of life in residential facilities, highlights the practices that are effective in promoting youths’ healthy maturation and identifies those that are not. PbS data is reported every April and October. PbS trains staff to use the information to change practices and support reforms implementing the adolescent development approach.
Announcing the 2020 Reentry Award and Youth Art Contest
Performance-based Standards (PbS) is pleased to offer two award opportunities for youths in PbS-participating facilities in April 2020.
PbS Reentry Award
To join other national efforts to improve reentry outcomes, PbS proudly announces the launch of the 2020 PbS Reentry Award. First developed in 2016 in honor of National Reentry Week, PbS annually offers Reentry Assistance Awards to help ease and support youths' transition from secure placement to the community.
If you are working in a PbS-participating agency or facility with a youth released to the community between March 1 and June 1 that would benefit from up to $500, please consider filling out an application. Funds can be used to pay for some of the important pieces missing from his or her aftercare or case management plan, like household items, clothing for jobs and interviews, school supplies or baby needs.
Applications will be accepted in conjunction with national Second Chance Month, from now through Thursday, April 30, 2020.
PbS Youth Art Contest
PbS is looking for youth artwork to help show what it means to celebrate success. The winning entry will be featured on the cover of the annual awards night program in celebration of PbS’ 25th anniversary.
Entries will be accepted now through Sunday, May 31, 2020.
Original artwork must be submitted along with the contest entry form. Visit the contest page for more information.
